Description

The Northern Region of Mexico (also called Mexican Middle North) is the geographical and cultural region of Mexico comprising the states of Baja California, Baja California Sur, Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, Sinaloa, Durango and Tamaulipas.

This area is characterized by a higher percentage of white or Caucasian population and more (mostly Spanish, German, French and Italian) European descent. Although sociological and culturally aware as northerners to all those born in the northern part of Mexico, some factors such as Sierra Madre Oriental and Sierra Madre Occidental hindered communication between some northern states for many years and as a result different cultures were formed in the North.
